Amiable Japanese-American character actor who became a household name as
Mr. Sulu on the cult sci-fi TV hit, "Star Trek." Takei brought good-humored dignity
to a role that encompassed everything from swashbuckling to displaying crazed
passion and has continued to man the helm in the popular series of STAR TREK
features. He is actively involved in Los Angeles community affairs and local politics
and in 1986 became the first Japanese-American actor to be granted a star on
Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
