Duits wis- en natuurkundige, historicus (1719-1800)

* 27-9-1719, Leipzig -  † 20-6-1800, Göttingen.

Werd in 1746 hoogleraar te Leipzig, 1756 te Göttingen en in 1763 directeur sterrenwacht aldaar. Hij is vooral bekend gebleven om zijn historisch-wiskundig werk en om zijn geestige epigrammen.
