A contemporary country singer in the vein of Reba McEntire –though, somewhat less dynamic vocally. Davis moved to Nashville from her hometown of Dotson, Texas, in 1962. Supporting herself through commercial jingle and lounge singing, she had three non-hit singles on Epic in 1968 Next came a deal with Libery (then known as Capitol) Records, with two album releases. Again no real success, though a couple of singles reached the lower rungs of the charts Meanwhile, the Reba McEntire connection intensified Reba and her husband, Narvel, signed Davis to their management company, Starstruck. She toured with Reba, singing backup vocals, and dueting with McEntire on 1993's Number One hit 'Does He Love You' This attracted the attention of Arista Records.
