DAVE & SUGAR
American Pop Country group

| Beginning their career
as Charley Pride's backup singers and opening act, vocal trio Dave & Sugar found an opportunit y for success at one of country music's
low points -the saccharine, country-lite era just after the Outlaw movement and
just before Urban Cowboy. Singer Dave Rowland (born in Los Angeles, January 26,
1942) and an ever-changing line-up of blonde, and occasionally, brunette female
'Sugars' (the originals were Vicki Hackeman and Jackie Frantz) had 11 Top Ten
hits from 1975 through '81, most of them on RCA, a few on Elektra. Three songs
hit Number One.: Queen Of The Silver Dollar, The Door Is Always Open, Tear Time, I'm Knee
Deep In Love With You, Don't Throw It All Away, Golden Tears.
Now without a recording deal, Dave & Sugar still tour the lounge circuit and appear at Fan Fair. # |
