Amiable, grey-haired actor with a nasal twang, best known for his role as managing editor Charlie Hume on the long-running TV series "Lou Grant" (1977-82). Adams began his career on radio in the 1940s, starring as the title character on the popular "Pepper Young's Family" from 1945-59. Also a prolific voice-over artist, Adams has helped sell a wide range of products, most notably Smuckers jams and jellies.
